Lonne Jaffe, Veteran Software Industry Executive, Joins Foros as an Advisory Director


Foros announced today that Lonne Jaffe has joined the firm as an Advisory Director. As former CEO of Syncsort and a former senior M&A and strategy executive at IBM and CA Technologies (News - Alert), Lonne combines deep knowledge of the software sector with extensive experience buying and selling software companies. At Foros, Lonne will assist firm clients in the software sector or planning to expand into the sector identify optimal counterparties (buyers or sellers) with whom to transact and with evaluating and executing those transactions.

Lonne led M&A and strategy at IBM (News - Alert) for two multi-billion dollar software divisions and was Senior Vice President of strategy at CA prior to becoming CEO of enterprise software provider Syncsort. Lonne led Syncsort through multiple transactions over a two-and-a-half year period, including a key divestiture and a sale of the company.

Over his career, Lonne has focused on growth strategies in the software sector and has worked on over a dozen completed transactions. Lonne began his career at IBM in 1999 where he had leadership roles in IBM's software businesses for the healthcare, life sciences, government, and education industries, including oversight of technical strategy, software product research and development, acquisition planning, and new business development. As director of M&A for a multi-billion dollar software division, Lonne helped IBM acquire DemandTec, i2, Emptoris, and Curam Software. He was then promoted to a Vice President at IBM where he led technology growth strategy foranother multi-billion dollar software division. Lonne left IBM in 2012 to become CA Technologies' Senior Vice President for Corporate Strategy where he was responsible for the development and execution of the company's long-term technical and acquisition-related strategic initiatives. In 2013, Lonne joined Syncsort, a private equity and venture capital (Insight Venture Partners, Bessemer Venture Partners, Goldman Sachs, and Georgian Partners) backed global software company with enterprise-scale Big Data products used by 87 Fortune 100 enterprises in more than 85 countries. As CEO of Syncsort, Lonne led over 200 employees worldwide and accelerated the business both organically and through acquisitions, with a particular focus on fast-growing Big Data platforms such as Apache Hadoop and Splunk (News - Alert). Lonne helped sell Syncsort to Clearlake Capital Group in October 2015.



Lonne resides in New York City and earned an A.B. degree in Government, with a focus on political economy, and an A.M. degree in History of Science, with a focus on the use of advanced encryption technology in scientific publishing, both from Harvard University.
