Oxford Physical Therapy Centers Delivers True Employee Mobility with Ericom Software

Ericom Software, a global leader in application access and desktop virtualization solutions, today announced that Oxford Physical Therapy Centers has deployed Ericom AccessNow to support employees across 14 offices located in Ohio and Kentucky. Utilizing Ericom AccessNow, Oxford enables management, physical therapists and office personnel to access PTOS (Physical Therapy Office System), which is used by physical therapists to document patient notes and scheduling, billing and reporting, in addition to a broad array of Windows applications, from any device including Chromebooks and thin client terminals.

Prior to AccessNow, each Oxford office had various software applications installed on-premise at each of the different locations. Oxford worked with IT service provider TCG Communications to find a solution that delivered centralized access to PTOS and other Windows applications from any office.

"We migrated Oxford's IT environment into a data center in Chicago, eliminating the need to manage software applications locally," explained Floyd Wagers, owner of TCG Communications. "Integrating AccessNow, everything is now accessible via an HTML5-compliant browser. From their Chromebooks and Wyse terminals, users simply open up a browser and can log in to PTOS and other applications. The process is seamless."

As part of the migration, Wagers selected AccessNow because it requires zero endpoint configuration. "We wanted to use Chromebooks as thin clients," added Wagers. "Because these devices do not have an installable operating system, we needed a clientless install. AccessNow's support of HTML5 out-of-the-box made it easy to deploy."

By moving to a data center and making everything accessible via HTML5 browsers, such as Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Safari, Oxford freed up IT resources that would normally be associated with endpoint configuration and maintenance.

On a daily basis, Oxford relies heavily on PTOS for reports and forms, which are rendered as PDF files. Patient files often require long scrolls, which can impede quick access to important information. ricom's Blaze technology, which accelerates remote browser sessions, provided a lightning fast user experience with near-zero latency. This also helped improve the performance of video tutorials that physical therapist view for training purposes.

"The combination of AccessNow and Blaze provide a very smooth experience for our users," stated Pete Zulia, co-founding partner at Oxford Physical Therapy Centers. "It is extremely easy to use and allows our clinicians to access PTOS from all types of devices, including the Chromebooks we recently implemented. As a result, management, physical therapists and office personnel can ensure the utmost in patient care."

Looking ahead, Oxford plans to implement a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) campaign and integrate Microsoft (News - Alert) Surface Pro tablets as well as the use of other devices.

"Ericom AccessNow extends existing Windows applications to Chromebooks and delivers true value," stated Ilan Paretsky, vice president of marketing at Ericom. "As a browser-based solution, AccessNow facilities data access without compromising convenience or security, which is especially important among healthcare offices like Oxford."
