IEEE (News - Alert), the world's largest professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for humanity, today announced the 2016 IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) International Conference & Exhibition on Engineering, Safety, Maintenance of Overhead Lines (ESMO) is set for September 12-15, 2016 in Columbus, Ohio. In partnership with American Electric Power- one of the largest electric utilities in the United States, delivering electricity to 5.4 million customers in 11 states -the 13th installment of the conference will feature several demonstrations, exhibitions and more all under the banner theme: Mission Incredible: Safer, Stronger, Smarter.

The IEEE PES-sponsored conference brings together practicing contractors, line workers, engineers, and industry service providers from around the world. ESMO aims to provide a venue for field demonstrations of the latest and safest practices. This includes technical sessions available for experts to promote, share and discuss various issues and developments in the field of electrical power engineering and construction.

"Line workers are always in need of up-to-date safety training and additional education opportunities to enhance their field skills in today's quickly expanding and advancing electric power industry," said Eriks Surmanis, IEEE PES Member and Chair of the ESMO 2016 Conference. "ESMO is the perfect venue for line workers and many other industry professionals to network and further develop their skills to better serve their companies and customers."

IEEE PES is also announcing a call for papers in conjunction with ESMO. Paper topics can be related to electric power engineering and construction, which includes focus areas such as challenges in line maintenance, advances in safety and the future of the grid.
