Aviat Secures $6 Million Deal with Leading U.S. Utility

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Jan. 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Aviat Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: AVNW), the leading expert in microwave networking solutions, today announced that a leading U.S. integrated electrical utility company placed orders for an estimated $6 million that covers services and equipment including hybrid TDM/IP microwave radios enabling seamless migration to IP-based Teleprotection.

Because TDM radios are undergoing "end of life" notifications across the industry, the utility required a solution enabling it to maintain comprehensive protection and control functions that ensure reliable operation of its power system. By upgrading to the Aviat IRU 600 EHP in a TDM/IP configuration, the utility can continue to use the Teleprotection de facto standard to ensure digital signal control of its generation, transmission and distribution facilities while migrating to IP-based solutions over time.

In addition, leveraging Aviat's +39 dBm IRU 600 EHP, the highest power radio on the market today, the utility benefits from the lowest total cost of ownership (TCO) and highest network reliability from any commercially available microwave radio.
