IDIS Fisheye Camera Receives Pair of Industry Accolades

The IDIS 5MP Super Fisheye Camera has been shortlisted for a prestigious Security & Fire Excellence Award and further received "recommended" status in independent testing by Benchmark Magazine.

Launched in the Americas at the 61st ASIS Seminar and Exhibition in September, the 5MP IDIS Fisheye enables complete 360-degree panoramic surveillance in high-definition, to give operators complete situational awareness without blind spots. The camera eliminates common panning, tilting and zooming delays, and features dual camera- and client-side dewarping (including via mobile devices). The IDIS Fisheye allows operators to split a 360° view into smaller, more focused images (such as entrance points and cash registers), while simultaneously retaining a panoramic view.

As fewer cameras are required to cover any given environment and maintenance is reduced with fewer moving parts, the IDIS Fisheye is more cost effective to install (versus the multiple cameras it replaces) and maintain, ensuring a low total cost of ownership.

To be shortlisted for a 2015 Security & Fire Excellence Award, the IDIS Fisheye met requirements to demonstrate cutting-edge development in surveillance. The shortlisting is supported by Benchmark Magazine's test of the IDIS Fisheye (Model DC-YI513W). In the December 2015 issue, Benchmark lists the DC-YI513W as a "recommended" product, noting its robust features and functionality. "Recommended status" is reserved for products with "no obvious flaws or performance issues, [that] do not lack credibility, and have been designed for simple installation and operation." Processed video seems accurate, perspective is correct," and that "pan and tilt motion is smooth, and the transitions are clean."
