Accenture Named to 2016 List of Canada's Top 100 Employers for Fifth Consecutive Year

TORONTO, Nov. 9, 2015 /CNW/ - Accenture (NYSE:ACN) has been named to Canada's Top 100 Employers list for the fifth consecutive year. The list, which results from an annual competition to recognize Canada's best places to work, appears today in a special section in The Globe and Mail and the Canadian job search engine, www.Eluta.ca.

"Being named to Canada's Top 100 Employers list year after year wouldn't be possible without the commitment of the 4,000 extraordinary people who choose to work for Accenture each and every day across Canada. It is their passion that allows Accenture to help its clients with their most significant challenges," said Bill Morris, Canada President and Senior Managing Director at Accenture.

"Using innovative workplace practices and technology, we help our people control their own careers and provide them with opportunities for long-term growth," said Mr. Morris. "We are able to attract and retain the best people, because of our commitment to diversity and equality in our workplace. Thirty-six percent of our workforce are women, and we are always looking for opportunities to advance that number and help our women succeed in their careers."

Accenture is consistently recognized globally as an employer of choice, including by DiversityInc for the past nine years and FORTUNE magazine for the past seven years.

"We are committed to diversity ad inclusion, and we celebrate and support our employees across Canada," said Claudia Thompson, Managing Director, Human Capital & Diversity, Accenture in Canada. "Accenture employees represent a great variety of cultures, ethnicities and experiences and are as diverse as our clients and communities in the 120 countries in which we work."

Among the programs and initiatives that contributed to Accenture being named to Canada's Top 100 Employers list are:

  • Inclusion & Diversity: Each year, Accenture continues to build and expand its employee programs and resource groups, including those for its women as well as its LGBT, Aboriginal, Persons with Disabilities and Military Interest Groups. This year, the number of women working at Accenture increased to more than 130,000 – approximately 36 percent of the company's global workforce. Accenture strives to provide an environment and culture that empowers its women to define their personal approaches to success.
  • Corporate Citizenship: Through its Skills to Succeed program, Accenture is committed to volunteering and donating consulting skills to equip others with the skills to get a job or build a business. By the end of fiscal 2014, Accenture had equipped more than 800,000 people with workplace and entrepreneurial skills, and by 2020, it plans to equip three million people globally with these skills.
  • Workplace strategy: Accenture offers a technology-enabled work environment including the latest collaboration tools to connect employees worldwide. Using TelePresence and Skype for Business, its employees can decide how and where they work, enabling them to better manage their professional and personal commitments. The company's hoteling policy allows greater mobility for employees who travel between the office and client sites.
  • Training & Career Mentoring: Accenture is committed to the ongoing development of its employees, investing US$841 million in employee training and professional development in fiscal 2015. The company also continued this momentum by expanding its mentoring tool, Accenture Mentoring. This online tool (similar to LinkedIn and other social networking sites) enables mentors and mentees to pair up on their own terms and connects people with one another to share knowledge and experiences to promote skill and career development across the organization.
