Seedling Launches Seedling Scavenger Bingo, an Interactive App That Blends Real-World and Digital Play

Seedling, the children's company bridging the gap between real-world and digital play, announced today the launch of Seedling Scavenger Bingo, an innovative new app that combines the fun of a scavenger hunt with digital elements, inspiring an entirely new way to play. As today's digitally savvy kids seamlessly shift between real world and digital play, Seedling is combining technology with its creative physical product line to create an entirely new category, allowing kids to be connected, while staying active and encouraging interaction with the whole family.

The second in Seedling's innovative mobile app lineup, Seedling Scavenger Bingo allows kids and parents to plan and execute a real-world scavenger hunt while tracking progress on a digital bingo board. Users choose from a variety of pre-set scavenger hunts, from Around the House to Supermarket and more, snap photos of their finds, and mark a space for every clue they uncover. The first one to find them all, wins! The app is available now as a free download in the Apple (News - Alert) App Store.

"While parents naturally worry about too much screen time and not enough quality time, Seedling is focused on delivering a solution by introducing new ways for families to create and play," said Phoebe Hayman, co-founder and CEO, Seedling. "With Seedling Scavenger Bingo, we are taking the beloved concept of a scavenger hunt and adding digital elements, so there is something for everyone. As a parent, I know that kids don't discriminate in how tey play - they are just looking for fun new experiences and Seedling Scavenger Bingo is just that."

Seedling Scavenger Bingo features include:

  • Ready-To-Play Games: Choose from a selection of free starter games (Around the House, Backyard, Big City, Nature Walk, Road Trip, and Supermarket) or unlock more ready-to-play games to continue the fun.
  • Make Your Own Games: Unlock the ability to make your own games, and add items for anyone & anything: your dog, your car, your crazy uncle, a jar of pickles, couch cushions, candy bars, the Liberty Bell, your gym teacher, a duck, a shrubbery, a bag of potatoes, or anything else you can imagine.
  • Play With Nearby Friends: Let friends and family near you use their own device to play along by easily sharing games over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.
  • Apple Watch: While playing, quickly check the game clock and remaining items right from your wrist.
  • Shop: Browse and buy Seedling's popular real-world outdoor products using Apple Pay on supported devices.

Seedling Scavenger Bingo is the second app in Seedling's lineup of digital products. Its first, Seedling Comic Studio was featured by Apple on launch day and was the number three app for kids ages 9-11.

Founded in 2007 by Phoebe Hayman, Seedling is known for its award-winning activity kits and toys and has more than 350 products that inspire kids to explore and engage in open-ended play. In November 2014, Seedling merged with the e-commerce company P.S. XO, and co-founders Soleil Moon Frye (actress/entrepreneur) and Kara Nortman (venture capitalist) joined the Seedling board and continue to play important roles at the company.

Seedling Scavenger Bingo is available for free download on iPhone (News - Alert) (with Apple Watch support), iPod touch and iPad devices through the Apple App Store.
