Twine Health Taps Top Health IT Execs to Usher in New Era of Continuous Care

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Oct. 29, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Twine Health today announced two appointments to the company's executive management team: Pete Bromann joins as Chief Revenue Officer and Chris Storer as Chief Marketing Officer. Bromann and Storer join Twine co-founder and CEO John Moore and co-founder and chairman Frank Moss to formally launch Twine and accelerate commercial adoption of the company's continuous care platform.

Twine grew out of Moore's award winning research at the MIT Media Lab into how to maximize people's contribution to their own health, in collaboration with their providers and in the course of their everyday lives. Moss was director of the Media Lab and Moore's PhD advisor in the New Media Medicine Group. The two teamed to found Twine in 2013 after having achieved unprecedented clinical results in randomized trials for hypertension management with Massachusetts General Hospital and diabetes management with Joslin Diabetes Center, boosting outcomes three-fold at one-third the cost. With those results in hand, Twine refined its platform and successfully scaled results across larger and more diverse patient populations, and in partnership with an array of provider groups.

"Landing two top execs with extensive health IT experience to round out our management team is a big win. In 2015, we focused on commercializing our product and approach, pressure-testing concepts from ur clinical trials with real-world patient populations. We're now ready for a full-court press to launch Twine in 2016, and usher in a new age of 'continuous care' to optimize the effectiveness of patient-centric care teams," said Moore.

Moss commented on today's healthcare IT industry where he sees fellow technologists attempting to disrupt medicine in exactly the same way they've disrupted so many other societal systems. "It's far more difficult to get people to change their health related behavior than change how they consume media or music. Anyone who thinks that apps and algorithms alone are going to cause people to engage in their health over the long haul is ignoring human nature. We're doing something very different and I'm excited to have Pete and Chris join us in this mission."

Pete Bromann joins Twine to launch and scale the company's sales and account management teams. With Bromann Twine gets a senior sales and business development executive with more than 15 years experience in the health IT sector including senior positions at Medecision, McKesson, Sybase and 3M. Bromann spoke about Twine's unique approach, "Unlike so many other organizations which seem to focus on all of the supporting pieces leading up to the engaging of the patient, I came to Twine because Twine starts with the patient, coordinates with the patient, and empowers the patient to drive their own outcomes. The clinical results are unparalleled."

Chris Storer signs on to Twine to lead marketing, previously vice president of marketing at American Well. Storer joined American Well in 2008, helping build the nascent telehealth industry and growing the company to be the leader in the space. "The first two things I noticed about Twine were how simple and intuitive the UI is, and how transparent and personal all of the data and care planning are - these are essential to keep patients and their care teams engaged. But what really blew me away was Twine's person-first credo - to treat patients as people, not as walking ICD codes."

Twine will be exhibiting at the Partners Connected Health Symposium October 29 and 30 at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston. Results from Twine's impressive randomized clinical trial, "Enabling Hypertension Coaching at Scale with Collaborative Care Platform: Pre and Post Study at Massachusetts General Hospital", will also be presented at Connected Health.

About Twine Health
Twine Health is new kind of healthcare technology company that takes a person-centric approach to collaborative care. Most patient-centric paradigms are infected by the age-old assumption that patients are their conditions, and carry the hubris that patients can be "fixed" by throwing resources at them. To us, patients are people, not numbers. We strive to give them tools to easily understand and manage their unique health situation, and enhance relationships with their care teams.
