Adrian Ionel Honored by Goldman Sachs for Entrepreneurship


SANTA BARBARA, Calif., Oct. 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Goldman Sachs is recognizing Adrian Ionel, founder of Restack, as one of the 100 Most Intriguing Entrepreneurs of 2015 at its annual Builders + Innovators Summit.

Ionel is among 100 entrepreneurs from multiple industries to be honored at the two-day event here.

Ionel, 48, recently founded and is CEO of Restack, an online platform for discovering, testing and using open source software in a continuous delivery model. By connecting technology creators and users in a continuous delivery network, Restack provides companies and teams everything they need to turn open source innovation into business advantage.

Prior to forming Restack, Ionel served as CEO and President of Mirantis from 2009 to 2015. Ionel, who remains a board member, helped transform the company into a global leader for cloud infrastructure. During this time, Mirantis delivered five consecutive years of record results, attracting 200 enterprise customers and a quarter-billion dollars of investment.

Prior to Mirantis, Ionel was CEO, Chairman and Co-Founder of eOnline which is now part of Xerox. He also worked as general manager and Vice President for Europe at Qualys, one of the world's leading cloud security companies.  

Born in Romania, Ionel earned a master's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Erlangen-Nuernberg and worked as as a software developer and chip designer in his early years.


He came to Silicon Valley in 1995 and started his first company in 1999.  His free time is spent with his family and enjoying the outdoors.
