Arkansas State Library Chooses LearningExpress for Online Resources


NEW YORK, Aug. 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- LearningExpress, an EBSCO company, announced today that the Arkansas State Library has selected LearningExpress Library and Computer Skills Center digital platforms to address the increasing need for workplace skills improvement, and to help all Arkansas residents achieve their academic, career and personal goals.

The Arkansas State Librarian, Carolyn Ashcraft states, "We're seeing a growing number of residents who are turning to their libraries for job-related support. We chose LearningExpress Library™ because it gives people the tools to improve workplace skills, prepare for occupational tests, conduct an effective job search, and write winning resumes. In addition, it provides resources for students and adults of all ages — to build the core reading, writing, math and test-taking skills that are the foundation for success in any career and in life." 

LearningExpress Library™ with Computer Skills Center includes more than 1,000 online tutorials, interactive practice tests, eBooks and computer skills videos. Patrons can prepare for professional licensing tests in allied health, civil service, education and other top fields. Students get unlimited access to college admissions and placement test preparation. There is preparation for the GED® test and the WorkKeys® Assessments for the Arkansas Career Readiness Certificate (CRC) and much more. The computer tutorials help users, from beginner-to-advanced, become proficient in computer and Internet basics and popular software applications including Microsoft Word®, Excel® and PowerPoint®, and Adobe® Photoshop® an Illustrator®.



With 84 percent of funding from the LSTA funds from the Institute for Museums and Libraries and 16 percent from the Arkansas Department of Education, these resources are available free-of-charge to all Arkansas residents through their public and school libraries (K-12, Community Colleges, Technical Schools) or directly through the Arkansas State Library Traveler Portal, http://www.library.arkansas.gov/traveler.
