The Medica Research Institute Forms Research Advisory Committee

The Medica Research Institute announces the creation of a Research Advisory Committee within its governance structure. The committee will bring an unprecedented level of thought leadership and expertise to the Institute as it advances its research agenda. Now fully established and producing research of record, the Medica Research Institute has elected national experts to serve in an advisory capacity.

Research Advisory Committee members were selected for their expertise and sincere interest in the potential the Institute holds for conducting high-impact research to improve health care and promote health.

"I am looking forward to working with this group of distinguished leaders on positioning our research agenda to improve health for all Americans," says Kristina Bloomquist, executive director of the Medica Research Institute. "The Research Advisory Committee is yet another way we are delivering on our mission to produce scientific evidence for public good and to inform national conversations on issues of health care."

The Research Advisory Committee comprises a blend of senior-level physician researchers and health policy experts and a balanced geographical mix of local leaders and those from throughout the country. Group members have a significant depth and breadth of experience in analyzing the complexities of health care delivery and financing.

Physician researchers are called to offer insights on future lines of research, with an eye toward the knowledge and skills the next generation of clinicians will need in a post-ACA health care environment. Health care affordability, value-based care that is patient-centric, social determinants of health, and addressing the widening gap in health disparities are key focus areas.

The committee's health policy researchers include tose who have contributed to scientific knowledge on health insurance, industrial organization, health care organization structure, pharmacoeconomics, and government programs such as Medicare and Medicaid.

In addition to developing the research agenda, Research Advisory Committee members will help to increase public awareness of the Medica Research Institute, disseminate research findings to targeted audiences, and attract the best minds to produce high-impact research.
