Despite Recent Controversy, Ready Aim Craft Adds Confederate Flag Made from Spent Ammunition to Website

FAWN GROVE, Pa., Aug. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- While big retailers have banned Confederate flag items, Ready Aim Craft's Confederate Flag Wall Decor is making its debut. Since the start of the controversy back in June, the shop has received more requests than ever before to create a Confederate flag from the iconic item used for all Ready Aim Craft creations – the once-fired 12-gauge shotgun shell.

Janelle James, the owner of Ready Aim Craft, knows the addition of the flag to her website could result in disapproval from visitors, but it's nothing she has not encountered before.

"Since I opened the shop two years ago, I've received several of messages from disgruntled shoppers about my Shotgun Shell American Flag," says James, who is also a member of the NRA. "Someone is always going to get offended, no matter what business you're in.  And when you advertise that everyone involved in your business is astrong supporter of gun rights, you're definitely going to ruffle some feathers."

As far as the Confederate flag, a Pew Research poll finds that only 1-in-10 Americans, on average, has a positive reaction to the flag, while 30% have a negative reaction. The other 58% of Americans have no reaction.

After the events in Charleston this past June, big retailers such as Amazon, eBay and Etsy have issued a ban of all Confederate flag merchandise. Before the ban, Etsy's search of Confederate flag items accounted for 24 pages (over 1,200) listings.

James is no stranger to having banned items removed on Etsy. In September 2014, Etsy Marketplace Integrity temporarily removed Ready Aim Craft from the site for having a listing for a Washington Redskins-colored paracord bracelet.

Ready Aim Craft, which began as an Etsy shop in 2013, has recently launched an e-commerce website, where shoppers can browse through a myriad of shotgun shell items, including the Shotgun Shell Confederate Flag.

"Everyone has a different interpretation of the flag's meaning," says James. "If it represents hatred to someone, they don't have to buy it. If it represents honor for someone's ancestors that fought in the Civil War, I'm glad I can make it available for them."
