World Building Controls Study 2014: Saudi ArabiaLONDON, Aug. 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- This study forms part of BSRIA's regular multi-client studies. The multi-client World Building Automation and Control Systems (BACS) studies are published every June. The current 17 countries programme shows the latest developments and trends in the BACS product, value added services and service & maintenance segments. The base year is 2013, with forecasts offered until 2018. Mexico has been researched for the first time regarding BACS and it is part of the current study, published in June 2014. A less developed trend is convergence, integrating building applications into the IT infrastructure of a building. This trend is more advanced in North America, but will occur elsewhere as well. Sales by verticals depend on the national/regional investment programmes; the budget cuts have an impact on sales towards education, healthcare and public sector verticals. In many countries new build activity is weak, leaving retrofit and refurbishment as drivers for BACS sales. The Total World BACS market saw an annual growth rate of 3% between 2011 and 2013 to reach US$21.1 bn. Products account for around a third, with the share of value-add increasing during the years. The trend n value-add seems to be divided into two distinct ways depending on the geography. Some countries have experienced growth of the value add market due to the demands for integration to improve energy efficiency and are expected to grow, while others have seen a decrease due to price competition and the declining needs triggered by financial stagnation. In some countries, the role of system integrators and control contractors has become more important whereas in other countries, manufacturers have increased to provide value-added service directly. North America accounts for 35% of the BACS product market, while Europe's share is 33%. Asia and Australasia (including China and India) account for 22%, leaving the share of Middle East & Africa at 10%. The Total World BACS market is expected to grow by just over 4% per annum to account for just over US$26 bn in 2018. BSRIA WMI expects that in 5 years' time products to grow their share in the total BACS value to 33%. The BRIC countries are expected to grow further, with India expecting a CAGR 2013-2018 of almost 14%. Growth in Brazil slowed down during the 2014 FIFA World Cup, but growth rate will rebound leading up to the Summer Olympics in 2016 and beyond.
