Crookneck Consulting LLC Announces New Mobile Service to Revolutionize How Photographers Find Great Light

SKYFIRE, a service for forecasting colorful sunrises and sunsets, is launching its new mobile service exclusively with The Photographer's Ephemeris (TPE) app for iOS.

TPE, a tool to help photographers plan outdoor shoots in natural light, is rated the #1 app for landscape photographers by F-Stop. The combination of TPE and Skyfire (News - Alert) represents a breakthrough in outdoor photography planning, helping photographers in the continental United States find the best sunrise and sunset color.

Instead of spending hours traveling to a location, uncertain if there will be a colorful sky, Skyfire provides forecasts up to four days in advance to help the photographer predict the best time and place to capture great light.

Skyfire uses National Weather Service and satellite data, topography, season, and cloud position and height, to feed a patent pending algorithm, which generates maps showin areas where good light at sunrise or sunset can be expected.

"It is a tool that I now use daily and wouldn't want to live without. I'm absolutely thrilled with the way it works and highly recommend it," said photographer Erik Stensland, author of Benjamin Franklin Award-winning book Wild Light.

"I had been testing Skyfire for several months and was really impressed with the helpful way it portrayed anticipated light conditions and the reliability of its predictions. When I learned that it was to be incorporated into TPE, which I use all the time, I was absolutely thrilled. It is extremely convenient to have both the light angles and light conditions in one package."

Two in-app subscription levels are offered: Skyfire Basic ($9.99 for 3 months), providing forecasts for today +2 days, and Skyfire Plus ($14.99 for 3 months), which extends the forecast window to today +4 days. In addition, Skyfire Plus allows users to configure custom push notifications to be alerted when a good sunrise or sunset is forecast for a favorite location.

TPE 3.3 for iOS with Skyfire will be released on Thursday, July 30. The update includes a 30-day free trial of Skyfire Plus. Additional information is available at http://photoephemeris.com/skyfire-for-tpe.

Skyfire, developed by engineer and photographer Matthew Kuhns, launched as a web-based service in November 2014. As a photographer, Matthew is widely published and is represented by Tandem Stock and the G2 (News - Alert) Gallery in Venice, CA.

Matthew Kuhns and Stephen Trainor, creator of TPE, are happy to answer any questions you may have. Review copies of TPE with Skyfire are available for press and media.
