Health New England appoints Laurie E. Gianturco, M.D. as Vice President and Chief Medical Officer


Health New England announced the appointment of Laurie E. Gianturco, M.D. as Vice President and Chief Medical Officer effective July 1. She succeeds Thomas H. Ebert, M.D. who retired after 17 years at Health New England.

As chief medical officer, Dr. Gianturco will oversee clinical and medical affairs and health care strategy focusing on clinical excellence and member satisfaction. She has responsibility for utilization and case management, pharmacy services, quality and accreditation, and healthcare informatics. She reports directly to Health New England President and CEO Maura McCaffrey.

Dr. Gianturco joind Health New England in 2014 as vice president and senior medical director. Prior to joining Health New England, Dr. Gianturco was chair of radiology at Baystate Medical Center and president of Radiology and Imaging Inc., the largest private radiology practice in Massachusetts. She also served in previous positions as chief of nuclear medicine and course director for Nuclear Medicine and Nuclear Cardiology at Baystate Medical Center and at the VA Boston Healthcare systems.



Dr. Gianturco is board certified in radiology and nuclear medicine. She is currently a member of the executive committee of the Massachusetts Radiological Society and is also an associate clinical professor of radiology at Tufts University School of Medicine. Dr. Gianturco has twice been selected as one of the "Best Doctors in America."
