Apperian to Share Best Practices for Data and Mobile App Security in Public Sector OrganizationsBOSTON, July 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Apperian® Inc., the mobile application management (MAM®) company, will participate in a Federal Times editorial webcast on mobile app security within the highly regulated public sector. The U.S. Transportation Security Agency (TSA) Chief Information Officer, Stephen Rice, will also join the Federal Times webcast to share perspective on delivering critical mobile apps and data to mobile workers, and distributing mobile applications securely. Apperian will also be hosting an event with True North Logistics in the D.C. area, Mobility Briefing: Mobile App Security for Highly Secure Settings. Executives from both companies will outline proven approaches that public sector organizations can use to broaden the reach of their apps, allowing agencies to be agile and flexible in their mission and discuss advancements in mobile app security methods that have made it easy to secure data to the FIPS-199 high watermark within the app layer. This approach improves the overall security posture of mobile apps in order to meet requirements for some of the most secure usage settings. These app-centric security methods also make it possible to deploy secure mobile apps to devices not under an organization's own control, such as inter-agency collaboration scenarios, collaboration with state and local agencies and in some cases BYOD. "With smartphone adoption rates above 70 percent, these devices are now the compute platform of choice, and mobile applications are poised to change the way government workers get mission-critical information," said Harvey Morrison, SVP Global Public Sector and Corporate Accounts, Apperian. "The advances in mobile security make it possible for even the most regulated organizations to deliver apps into heterogeneous environments while maintaining complete control over mobile data and access points."
In addition, Apperian will share its expertise on public sector mobility by being featured in a Federal Times editorial webcast in which the TSA's Chief Information Officer, Stephen Rice, will also be joining. Stephen will discuss how apps can be used in federal BYOD environments and share how the TSA has successfully developed and distributed mobile apps for its employee and contractor population to drive productivity while maintaining tight security control at the app- and data-level.
