Research and Markets: Global Medical X-Ray Devices Market Assessment & Forecast: 2015-2019

Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/8gqjd8/global_medical) has announced the addition of the "Global Medical X-Ray Devices Market Assessment & Forecast: 2015-2019" report to their offering.

Emerging countries continue to choose retrofitting digital x-ray detectors as a means of cutting cost as most analog devices can be retrofitted. Most other detectors such as CMOS and CCS are currently lower in penetration. Flat detectors based on CsI/a-Si have replaced image intensifiers and analog film in most applications. However, this may change based on consumer perception and purchasing power that is observed to increase in countries of Middle-East, Latin America and Asia-Pacific. Capital rich countries have indulged significantly in building high-tech surgical labs and diagnostic centers, with the latest medical technology. The increase in demand of diagnostics across the world has also added to the growth of this market. Computed Radiography uses an imaging plate instead of a film. It uses energized photo-stimulated phosphor on the plate and is contained within a cassette. The CR system uses a digital plate placed inside an analog system which is then manipulated through a CR equipment to convert it into a digital format. This can then be used for PACS, telemedicine print with a dry film media and even store it for electronic medical records (EMR). It holds the highest in the technologies market with 38.04% in 2014.

Hand-held X-ray machines are technologically advanced products such as Aribex's Nomad that can be held in hand. The device is shaped with a trigger hold and is very easy to use. The market for such hand-held devices is on a tremendous rise particularly from hospitals in developed countries. Hand-held devices are increasing the potential for dentists and orthologists as well. There are some restraints currently for these devices regarding regulatory approvals. One example to illustrate this is that the Kansas Department of Health and Environment issued an informational notice regarding handheld x-ray units. The KDHE states that the authority is aware of several handheld x-ray devices on the market but only one company Aribex that currently has requested a waiver for the device to be handheld has been given the grant. MinXRay is another mobile and portable X-ray device manufacturer that is popular among veterinarians and point of care medical personnel.

Market leaders are the expected trio GE Healthcare, Philips (News - Alert) and Siemens. However, the x-ray devices market has approximately 40 notable players. Asia-based manufacturers such as Shimazdu Corporation also held a significant market position in the X-ray devices market in 2014, owing to increased adoption of their manual and motorized mobile X-ray systems with flat panel detectors (MobileDaRt X-ray product series). Other major players in this market are FujiFilm, Agfa Healthcare, MinXRay, Planmed, Hologic and Bennett.
