Advanced Audio and Video Products Take Center Stage at CE Week 2015

Audio and television are the founding fathers of Consumer Electronics, and they first found their home in NYC, in the era of hi-fi and pioneering live broadcasts. Despite all the new categories that are proliferating in CE these days, the audio/video sensory duo are back at CE Week, the industry's mid-year meeting, June 23-25 in NYC, making eye (and ear) grabbing announcements and offering next-generation demonstrations.

Produced by Scott Wilkinson (AVS (News - Alert) Forum, TWiT) and Geoff Tully in cooperation with DEG, AES, the Grammy's, Value Electronics, and AIX Records, these three days of panels and presentations by leading names in audio/video product reviewing, development, and retail will provide the most authoritative insights into the state of:

  • High Resolution Audio: The Facts, Falsehoods and Future
  • High Dynamic Range (HDR (News - Alert)): The Next Wave of UHD TV
  • Beyond Surround Sound: Creating, Advanced Immersive Sonic Experiences

"CE Week has proven to he an important, mid-year destination for serious discussions about what really matters to consumers when it comes to better visual and sonic experiences," says Eric Schwartz, the show's Executive Producer. "Last year, major announcements were made here, and we're expecting a few surprises in the conferences, demos, and show floor this year as well."

The Audio/Video Program at CE Week begins on Tuesday, June 23, with two back-to-back morningprograms: Your Next TV and Your Next Audio Conferences. These morning sessions will explore:

  • Ultra HD: Delivering Smarter Pixels
  • Not Just Sizzle; We've Got Bacon for Sale
  • The Future of Hi-Res Audio
  • What's Beyond Surround?
  • How to Produce the Very Best Audio
  • How to Buy Your Next AV

The afternoon sessions on June 23 will feature expert demos of new systems, featuring industry thought leader Joe Kane, who will talk about advancements in HDR, and Mark Waldrep will demo and discuss what high-resolution audio really sounds like (and why it matters).

And for the first time ever, the popular Value Electronics Flat-Panel Shootout will be held not in the retailer's showroom, but at CE Week on June 24 and 25. Each day will include several sessions during which attendees can evaluate four flagship flat-panel TVs (LG 65EG9600, Panasonic TC-65CX850, Samsung (News - Alert) UN78JS9500, and Sony XBR-75X940C) and score various picture-quality attributes for each set. The results will be tabulated to determine the 2015 "King of UHDTV."

Sponsors for the June 23rd Next TV and Next Audio include LG Electronics, Westinghouse Electronics, Auro 3D, dCS, DEG, Astell&Kern, Kimber Kable, dts and Sony. Advanced sights and sounds will also be featured throughout the CE Week Exhibits floor on June 24-25, with major demo rooms being hosted by Auro Technologies, Onkyo and Epson. The Value Electronics Flat-Panel Shootout, HDR tutorials by Joe Kane, and Mark Waldrep's high-res audio demos will continue to rotate throughout the two exhibition days (check on site for schedules).

Other audio and video products at the show include product introductions from Seiki, Sunfire, Vivitek, HearNotes, iHome, JLab Audio, Monster Products, Altec Lansing (News - Alert), Simple Living Technology, and Jam Audio.
