MedRisk International Scientific Advisory Board Member Lori Michener Receives FAPTA DesignationMedRisk International Scientific Advisory Board Member Lori Michener, PhD, PT, ATC, SCS (News - Alert), FAPTA has received the Catherine Worthingham Fellowship from the American Physical Therapy Association, adding "FAPTA" to her credentials. "The FAPTA designation is the highest honor among APTA's membership categories, reserved for individuals who have demonstrated sustained excellence in the areas of advocacy, education, practice, and research," said MedRisk's ISAB Chair Phil McClure, PT, PhD, FAPTA. Dr. Michener's expertise is in musculoskeletal shoulder pain biomechanics, shoulder and cervical pain diagnosis and treatment, shoulder and cervical disorder clinical trial research, and the use of patient-rated outcomes measurement tools to assess health-related quality of life. She has served on several professional panels for healthcare organizations such as the APTA, American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, and Agency for Healthcare Research and Qualit, as well as MedRisk's ISAB. Dr. Michener is the director of clinical outcomes and research in the Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy at the University of Southern California. She also oversees USC's Clinical Biomechanics and Orthopedics Outcomes Research program, known as COOR, and is a professor in its Physical Therapy department. Previously, Dr. Michener held similar positions at Virginia Commonwealth University.
