Business Travel Direct Partners with TRIPBAM to Achieve Best in Class Hotel Rates


Business Travel Direct, a prominent United Kingdom travel management company, partnered with Dallas-based TRIPBAM to introduce a new best in class hotel rate assurance program for its corporate clients. The London-based TMC (News - Alert) is the first UK travel agency to sign with TRIPBAM, leveraging the startup's unique services to shop hotel rates and identify potential savings from the moment the accommodation is booked.

TRIPBAM's technology constantly monitors rates at booked hotels and flags up any rate reductions. It also facilitates searches against specific traveler or trip requirements, such as working to a set budget, traveling with a customer or attending a conference.

TRIPBAM earned the Global Business Travel Association's "Spotlight on Transformation" award in 2013, and also won the Innovation Award at the inaugural Business Travel News Innovate Conference in September 2014. Business Travel Direct ranks among the top independent TMCs in the United Kingdom.

TRIPBAM monitors rates at clusters of hotels within a set agreed local against a range of criteria such as hotel amenities, rating or distance from a chosen location. Business Travel Direct will be able to alert bookers directly of these rate savings at the alternative hotel, allowing clients to accept or decline the rate at the click of a button. Declined savings can be collated into a report and used by the corporate travel manager and TMC to inform future accommodation policy changes.



"Prior to entering into the partnership with TRIPBAM, we undertook testing against actual bookings to establish the extent of potential savings for our corporate clients," said Julie Oliver, managing director of Business Travel Direct. "The results were unequivocal with savings achieved at 33 percent of named hotels. The results for cluster hotels were even more encouraging with savings possible for 55 percent of bookings. Over the course of a year this could translate into substantial savings for our clients."
