Tempus CEO Alan E. Hall: Weather Research and Forecast Act Will Spur Innovation

Tempus Global Data, Inc. today celebrated passage of HR1561, known as The Weather Research and Forecast Innovation Act of 2015. The House of Representatives passed six bipartisan Science, Space, and Technology Committee bills by voice vote that included HR1561. The bill was passed out of Mark-Up on March 25th.

Alan Hall (News - Alert), Chairman and CEO of Tempus Global Data, said, "We have been working for more than a year to see this important legislation passed and today we congratulate Committee Vice-Chairman Lucas, Congresswoman Bonamici and Subcommittee on Environment Chairman Bridenstine for their leadership and vision.

"A large number of people who are passionate about weather forecasting have been working on this cooperative effort for much, much longer than a year and we honor the atmospheric scientists and the weather policy experts who have diligently worked together to make this a reality. We are seeing the convergence of interest in the private sector and in government agencies, to insure we have the very best weather observation capabilities in the world," Hall stated.

Hall said, "Weather observation and forecasting is a universal need. It's not a political issue since weather affects everyone. The Committee received 25 letters of support from companies and organizations in the Weather Enterprise, which is an outstanding show of community support for a science/weather bill. The bill will enable new and innovative ways to provide advanced warnings, to keep people across America safe and well informed. Tempus has commercialized an important atmospheric technology that is a promising breakthrough in the way severe weather is detected and forecast, and we feel confident in moving forward as a partner with NOAA and other U.S. Government agencies to provide new levels of confident data."

Hall said, "We are confident that our innovative solutions will provide data that is compatible with the very best government assets and that this is the dawn of an exciting period in forecast improvement in this country."
