The Iron Yard Announces Self-Paced, Introductory Courses at Their Tampa Bay CampusTAMPA BAY, Fla., May 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Iron Yard is excited to announce the launch of self-paced, introductory courses in Front End Engineering on June 1st. Tampa Bay is one of two cities to offer the part-time courses out of their 14 campuses nationwide. "The community has been asking for self-paced, part-time classes so they can explore the option of software engineering as a career. We are responding to local interest from people who want to learn programming on the nights and weekends while working full-time, being a full-time parent, or just getting started in the world of coding." —Toni Aliberti, Campus Director The Iron Yard traditionally offers full-time immersive courses, but for this offering they have partnered with Thinkful to offer a self-paced format that will teach the basics of front end engineering to participants. If students decide they want to jump into a full-time course after, they can apply 50% of their tuition to the cost of the 12 week immersive courses, which inclues access to The Iron Yard's comprehensive career support program. Topics covered in the Introduction to Front End Engineering course include HTML, CSS, JavaScript and how to build front end web applications. Each week the students have remote video mentor sessions with a professional engineer and live, in-person mentor sessions with an Iron Yard mentor and other classmates at The Iron Yard's campus. Students also get access to Iron Yard events, meetups and gatherings with students in the full-time program.
