Supplier Compliance Audit Network (SCAN) Association Announces Official Program Launch

BUFFALO, N.Y., May 20, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Supplier Compliance Audit Network (SCAN) will begin the pilot stage of its official launch this month.  The first of its kind, this program will provide a systematic approach whereby mutually acceptable global supply chain security compliance standards are achieved to reduce audit redundancy for common supply chain stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality.

Throughout this pilot process, companies represented by the SCAN Board of Directors will begin ordering audits via newly developed software which will act as a repository for all audit results.  Audits will be performed by pre-approved audit companies which have been rigorously trained in the expected security standards agreed upon by the Association.  The data gathered from this pilot period will give much insight as to the benefits and efficiency of streamlining this audit process and sharing results, benefitting both importers and suppliers alike.

"The Home Depot as a C-TPAT Tier II partner and global leader in Supply Chain Management enthusiastically supports the effort to standardize and streamline the supplier audit process through the SCAN audit platform," said Kendra Riley, Senior Manager of Global Trade Services at The Home Depot.  "We are confident that SCAN will benefit not only The Home Depot as the importer but additionally our valued suppliers."

SCAN Association members eliminate facility audit fatigue by utilizing one agreed-upon audit process with results shared amongst member companies.  The benefits include increased audit efficiency by consolidating similar processes used by member companies, a standardized corrective action plan for consistent supplier and facility improvement expectations, an automated data base for sharing audit results, and a significant cost savings on audit operations for both importers and suppliers.

"As a member of SCAN, Walmart is very excited with the launch of the SCAN audit platform that will allow greater efficiencies for our suppliers as well as the application of standardized industry criteria as to security audits for imports to our US market." said David Blackorby, VP of Global Security Operations at Walmart Stores Inc.

The SCAN Board of Directors is comprised of committed association member company individuals who have a vested interest in the development and success of the Association. The current Board and committee members consist of Walmart Stores, The Home Depot, Canadian Tire, The Coleman Company, Husky Injection Moldings Systems, Celgene Corporation, and Boeing.

The SCAN Board oversees committees that focus on the strategic objectives that include audit criteria, third party audit firm selection, membership criteria, audit repository management, and public relations.
