Attivio Founder Ali Riaz Joins Akumina Board of Directors

NASHUA, N.H., May 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Akumina, the creator of the InterChange user experience software for SharePoint, today announced that Attivio founder Ali Riaz has joined the company's board of directors. In this role Riaz will provide hands-on strategic advice on all aspects of the business including fundraising, sales and marketing, channel development and product strategy.

Riaz has extensive experience propelling early-stage companies into large, corporate leaders. At Attivio, as the founder and CEO, Riaz was responsible for defining and executing vision and strategy for the company whose core product, Active Intelligence Engine™ (AIE), is the leading unified information access platform. Prior to Attivio, Riaz was COO and president of global enterprise search company Fast Search & Transfer (FAST). In 2008, Microsoft Corporation acquired FAST for $1.2 billion. Riaz has held executive positions at Novartis (Switzerland) and CSC (England).

"Earlier this month at Ignite we saw all the great things that Microsoft is building using the FAST technology," said Ed Rogers, Akumina's CEO and co-founder. "We are proud to have someone who's been able to build such great technology companies as FAST and Attivio working with Akumina."

"We are excited to have someone as experienced as Ali join the team," added Akumina COO and co-founder Steven Shrkanowski. "Ali has a clear track record for helping businesses increase both the value they deliver to their customers as well as investors."

Riaz joins Akumina as the momentum behind InterChange, its user experience software for SharePoint, continues to grow. InterChange improves the SharePoint user experience by empowering content authors, information workers and site managers with Apps that expose only what they need to accomplish specific content and site management tasks without ever exposing them to SharePoint's user interface.

"Akumina has a great solution to a well-known problem impacting thousands of businesses," said Riaz. "I have been really impressed by the organization Ed and Steven have built and look forward to helping Akumina change the way the world works with SharePoint."
