Synaptics Files Patent Infringement Complaints in Protection of Innovative Touch Sensing TechnologySAN JOSE, Calif., April 21, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Synaptics Incorporated (NASDAQ: SYNA), the leading developer of human interface solutions, today announced the filing of complaints against BLU Products, Inc. (BLU) and two Goodix entities, including Goodix Technology, Inc., in the United States International Trade Commission (USITC) and United States District Court, Northern District of California. Synaptics is requesting that the USITC investigate and determine that Goodix infringed several Synaptics patents directed to innovative touch sensing technology. The filing also alleges that certain mobile devices from BLU contain Goodix touch controllers and also violate Synaptics patents. In the USITC complaint, Synaptics alleges that Goodix and BLU sell after importation, sell for importation, and/or import certain infringing controllers and mobile devices into the United States. "Synaptics is committed to protecting our investment in developing and patenting our touch sensing technology," said Rick Bergman, Synaptics CEO and President. "We believe Goodix and BLU are in clear violation of several patents, and we are aggressively pursuing action to seek a resolution. We are a market leader and will take whatever steps are necessary to protect our valuable intellectual property." In addition to requesting that the USITC conduct an investigation into the allegations, Synaptics seeks an exclusion order from the USITC that would prevent Goodix and BLU from importing the infringing devices into the United States, as well as a cease and desist order to stop the marketing and sale of the devices within the United States.
