Hallmark Selects AppDynamics for Application Performance Monitoring

AppDynamics today announced that its Application Intelligence Platform has been selected by greeting card and gift manufacturer, Hallmark UK, to proactively identify application performance issues, prevent downtime for business-critical apps, and provide business insights for better decision-making.

Hallmark UK required an application performance monitoring (APM (News - Alert)) solution that could oversee its .NET and SQL-based development environments, covering everything from back-end systems, warehousing and inventory systems, to desktop and web applications.

The platform gives the company visibility across its entire IT estate, enabling it to proactively spot application performance issues before they impact the business.

"Working with AppDynamics for the first time, it became clear we needed the platform in order to succeed," said Chris Tranter, technical lead at Hallmark UK. "The level of monitoring we were able to do in production goes beyond what we were ever expecting. We are able to pinpoint application issues right down to the code level before these cause a problem and impact project timescales. This helps us to reduce the number of escalations, improving user experience and allowing us to focus on driving innovation."

Jeremy Duggan, vice president of Europe, at AppDynamics, says, "Delivering a first-class service to users relies on multiple applications working together seamlessly. AppDynamics gives IT operations and development teams peace of mind, providing an integrated view of application performance to prevnt stalls, outages and crashes. We look forward to helping Hallmark UK deliver superior performance and user experience, helping it achieve greater efficiencies across its business."

Hallmark UK will use AppDynamics to deliver:

  • Optimized application responsiveness
  • End-to-end, real-time business transaction visibility
  • Predictive and preventative measures for de-risking applications

Hallmark UK has identified and successfully addressed multiple issues with its application and related infrastructure since introducing AppDynamics, such as slow business transactions affecting services across auditing, inventory and web. In addition to using AppDynamics across its entire internal applications suite, Hallmark UK has plans to integrate AppDynamics' SQL monitoring into its cloud controller, as well as extend monitoring to its server infrastructure.
