"In May, when tens of thousands of people from all over the world arrive for this 12-day festival, Cox will be there to support teams with Internet services," said Ross L. Nelson, vice president, Cox Business. "Cox Business will be running the technical operations side of the Stopover, making sure teams, staff, organizers and the media get what they need with over a Gigabit of Internet access to go along with these hig-performance boats."

As an official stopover partner, Cox will be the exclusive technology company to connect the massive race village including team compounds, sponsor pavilions, media center, broadcast compound, hospitality centers and internet service for live coverage of the boat arrivals, In-Port Racing and Leg Start events.

Brad Read, Director of the Newport Stopover, says, "Cox will provide a strong technology service for our massive Race Village and for coverage of the In-Port Racing and Leg Start. We have worked with Cox as a technology partner on other high profile sailing events and they know what an international event of this magnitude needs to keep flawless internet service running throughout the entire event."

As a port sponsor, Cox will have exclusive designation in the technology category for branding in Newport.  The Race Village will be open to the public with free admission, entertainment and activities every day of the event.  In addition, Cox will provide 24-hour technology support on site at the Race Village in Fort Adams State Park.

The Race is currently in Auckland and scheduled to leave for the Itajai, Brazil stopover after Cyclone Pam clears out of the Pacific for the boats to make their way on this challenging Southern Ocean leg into the Atlantic. After a 12-day stop in Brazil, the fleet will race North to Newport, RI and are expected to arrive in the U.S. May 7 - 9.

From Newport, the fleet then goes on a transatlantic race to Lisbon (Portugal) and from Portugal to Lorient (France). After Lorient, a 24-hour pit stop will be made in the Hague (Netherlands) and then the teams will make their final sprint to the finish line in Gothenburg (Sweden), the Swedish home of Volvo, in July 2015.
