TNS and ID TECH Ease EMV Upgrade Path with New Partnership

Transaction Network Services (TNS (News - Alert)) and ID TECH are helping to simplify the path to EMV for card readers by entering into a partnership which will allow ID TECH hardware to be more readily certified into the marketplace.

With this partnership, TNS will provide access to its extensive global payments community which boasts more than 400 endpoints, including the major credit card schemes, banks, acquirers and processors. TNS will deliver essential connectivity to the multiple acquirers across the globe with managed services around network monitoring, SIM management, and deployment.

ID TECH is a world leader in EMV solutions - both contact and contactless - and this partnership with TNS enables customers to make the transition from magnetic stripe cards to smart cards in a quick and painless manner.

Stanley Ning, President and CEO of ID TECH, said: "With the EMV liability shift in the US almost upon us, and the rapidly expanding use of contactless and NFC payment technologies, ID TECH is committed to providing our current and future customers a reliable and secure path to EMV capability and compliance. This partnership with TNS will enable us to accelerate deployments of EMV solutions both domestically and internationally. The combination of ID TECH's hardware and TNS managed services will provide these customers with a seamless EMV transition.

"Our innovative products have always been clearly targeted at satisfying our customers' needs and changing requirements, and this strategic cooperation with TNS will allow us to significantly shorten the time frame required for our customers to adapt their individual payment systems to accommodate the changes related to the shift to EMV."

Lisa Shipley, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of TNS' Payment Network Solutions, said: "The payments landscape is dynamic and evolving and we have seen a lot of evidence of this at this week's TRANSACT 15 conference, including the scaling of the Intel (News - Alert)® Data Protection Technologies for Transactions SW security product. This solution is paired with Intel CPUs in the Point of Sale (POS) device whether it be mobile, traditional fixed POS or new form factors to be invented as retail moves to the Internet of Things. Our new relationship with ID TECH accelerates the work Intel is doing, as well as other new market players who are striving to bring enhanced technology to market to help in the fight against fraud.

"TNS is unique in the market place. We provide a single point of entry into the majority of all the acquirers, VARs, card schemes, etc. across the globe. Our current customers leverage this capability and eliminate the multiple connections into their data centers by connecting once to TNS. New entrants, including hardware manufacturers, can certify once to TNS and have the benefit of the 400 plus connections we maintain across the globe. By using TNS as a one-stop shop for their payments needs, our customers are also able to streamline and simplify their payments, securing access to the global marketplace, rather than restricting themselves to local connections or a complicated home grown network."

Michelle Tinsley, Director of Mobility and Secure Payment at Intel Corporation, said: "Our new payment solution will enhance fraud defences and can be easily incorporated by ID TECH and other POS manufacturers. The path to EMV compliance poses many issues for the industry so it's encouraging to see TNS and ID TECH working together to help acquirers and merchants fast track this process."
