City of Lancaster Upgrades Government Technology Foundation With Accela Civic Platform

Accela Inc., the leading provider of cloud-based civic engagement solutions for government, announced today that the City of Lancaster, California, has selected the Accela Civic Platform to upgrade its current technology infrastructure. The City of Lancaster will take advantage of Accela's (News - Alert) Land Management, Licensing and Asset Management solutions.

Lancaster is the largest city in the Mojave Desert portion of California, with a population of nearly 160,000. By upgrading from Tidemark software to the Accela Civic Platform, the City will have tools that simplify and accelerate permitting while optimizing its infrastructure. As a result, citizens and organizations of all kinds will find it even faster and easier to conduct business with the City, saving them additional time and money.

"The City of Lancaster continues to prioritize the absolute transparency and efficiency of our municipal operations," said R. Rex Parris, Mayor of the City of Lancaster, California. "By adding Accela's solutions to our community interface, city staff expects to increase productivity, while improving access to the processes and information patrons need to conduct city business. Lancaster has twice garnered the Most Business-Friendly City Award, due to our ongoing goal of making local business transactions as easy as possible for all parties involved."

A key benefit of the Accela deployment is the available online resources that will allow citizens to better communicate and establish relationships with the City, while further improving the quality of government service for local residents and businesses alike.

Running on the Civic Platform, Lancaster will initially implement a number of Accela solutions, including Land Management, Business Licensing, Asset Management, Citizen Access, Geographic Information System (GIS) and Mobility.

"We're excited to provide Accela solutions to the City of Lancaster, as we understand that engaged citizens and businesses are critical to building a better community," said Maury Blackman, Accela President and CEO. "With the Accela Civic Platform capabilities, we're helping Lancaster unify the community even further with real-time access to resources and streamlined processes that support progress."
