Docker, Inc., the company behind the fast-growing Docker open platform for distributed applications, today announced that Iain Gray will join the team as senior vice president of customer success. Gray will be responsible for ensuring enterprise-class services and support for customers, enabling these customers to take full advantage of both the Docker platform and the surrounding ecosystem.

"Customer traction is mounting particularly within enterprises, and the need for premium services, support and education around the Docker platform is essential," said Ben Golub, CEO of Docker. "Iain's vast experience working directly with customers to ensure they are successful at every step of their journey is what makes him the ideal candidate for this position. With Iain's support, we are confident that the Docker user base and its broad array of ecosystem partners will feel at ease knowing that he is at the helm."

In less than 24 months, the Docker open platform for distributed applications has become one of the fastest growing open source projects ever, including nearly 800 contributors, 200+ million downloads and over 100 thousand Dockerized applications. Docker's rapidly expanding ecosystem includes industry leaders such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google (News - Alert), IBM, Microsoft, VMware, and more. Leadership in customer success will be critical to continuing this momentum especially as the myriad of tools and partners continues to expand the use cases around Docker.

With more than 20 years of industry experience, Gray joins Docker from his former position as vice president of customer success at Pivotal where he was responsible for the development and delivery of expert services (solutions architecture, education and technical support) and the enablement of a successful service partner ecosystem. Prior to Pivotal, Gray was vice president of global services for Red Hat (News - Alert) Inc. for nearly ten years, where he took on Red Hat's professional services, customer training and partner enablement activities that included supporting the majority of the Global 2000. Iain was a central figure in helping Red Hat grow an enterprise business that was centered on providing world-class service and support for a transformative open source technology.

Gray's strong management background has provided him with the aptitude to manage large teams and projects globally. Before joining Red Hat, Gray was the director of market development engineering at Sun Microsystems Inc.

"As VP of customer success, my ultimate goal is to enable our customers to be successful through a robust set of expert services that support the development and deployment lifecycle, and to provide our customers with a strong voice back into Docker," said Gray. "We will build out the sam level of enterprise-class premium technical support, consulting services and training delivery that I have grown accustomed to throughout my career."
