Packet Design CTO to Speak on SDN Analytics at MPLS SDN World Congress

Packet Design (News - Alert) CTO Cengiz Alaettinoglu will present at the MPLS SDN World Congress in Paris next week about the need for SDN analytics to monitor and correlate the performance of overlay and underlay networks. Packet Design is a silver sponsor of the event, which is taking place March 17-20 at the Marriott Paris Rive Gauche Hotel & Conference Center, and is hosting its first ever Customer Symposium there on Monday, March 16.

Session Title: "The Role of Analytics-Based Orchestration in Overlay and Underlay Networks"

Session Description: Industry focus on software defined networking (SDN) has been in three segments: the data center, the enterprise-WAN edge, and the WAN itself. Certain services and applications will require orchestration across these segments. For example, when data center compute resources become unavailable, some virtual machines (VMs) will need to be moved to other data centers. External traffic to these VMs, as well as the east-west traffic that was confined to the data center, will now have to traverse the WAN. Therefore, paths with sufficient performance characteristics will need o be set up.

Or, when an enterprise-WAN edge orchestrator chooses a particular WAN connection for a town hall meeting, CoS treatment and capacity reservation will need to be provisioned in the WAN. Setting up paths for these new workloads without actually understanding their impact on other applications and services running on the network can be detrimental to both the existing applications and to the application making the request.

In this presentation, Cengiz Alaettinoglu will show how SDN analytics can solve this operational issue and orchestrate paths across the WAN, using a bandwidth calendaring application as an example.

Date and Time: Thursday, March 19, 4:45 p.m. GMT

Packet Design will be exhibiting in booth 104. For more information, visit http://www.uppersideconferences.com/mpls-sdn/index.html.

About Packet Design

Founded in 2003, Packet Design has pioneered route analytics to address today's network management challenges. The Route Explorer System monitors network-wide routing and traffic, providing operational alerts to failures and anomalies. Analyses and DVR-like replay capabilities speed troubleshooting, and routing and traffic modeling helps network planners predict the impact of changes and new workloads. Packet Design's unique real-time routing intelligence will be a critical enabler for the programmable and dynamic software defined networks of the future. The world's largest telecommunications companies, mobile operators, MSOs, service providers, enterprises and government agencies use the Route Explorer System to improve network availability and performance while maximizing the return on assets.
