Consortium for IT Software Quality to Host IT Risk Management and Cybersecurity Summit in MarchThe Consortium for IT Software Quality (CISQ) today announced that it will host the IT Risk Management and Cybersecurity Summit at the Hyatt Regency Hotel on March 24 in Reston, Virginia. Registration is now open. Congress and the White House have mandated action for software quality including: Executive Order 13636, NDAA Sec. 933 and SEC (News - Alert) Regulation SCI. Federal agencies are required to comply with these mandates to prevent breaches and outages that affect national and economic security. With this in mind, the Consortium's organizers have designed this one-day leadership forum for attendees to network, exchange information and share insights into the role that standards in software quality play to help mitigate such vulnerabilities and risks. The agenda will feature CISQ Director, Dr. Bill Curtis, who led development of the Capability Maturity Model at the Software Engineering Institute, and now leads development of the CISQ software quality measures. "This event responds to the growing demand to manage risk and dependability of software whether produced internally or outsourced. CISQ's automated software quality measures are available to support compliance and to help safeguard our nation's IT assets," he said. "The Summit is a venue where industry and government can share how they improved their security and operational risk thresholds from both a development and acquisition management perspective," he added. Attendees are expected to join from: the U.S. Departmnt of Defense, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Department of Energy, General Services Administration, U.S. Defense Health Agency, U.S. Army, PEO EIS, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, National Security Agency (News - Alert), DOT&E, MITRE and other parties to hear national experts and thought leaders address:
The day will include a presentation on the development of CISQ standards to automate measurement of functional size and structural quality of software. Future work on standards for measuring technical debt and quality-adjusted productivity will also be described.
