Alliant Content Launches XiveTV, First-to-Market Mobile and Streaming Documentary Network

WASHINGTON and NEW YORK, Feb. 4, 2015 /PRNewswire/-- Online video company Alliant Content, LLC today announced the launch of XiveTV (pronounced "zive,"), a new digital video network offering one of the most extensive collections of high-quality, long-form documentary entertainment. XiveTV debuts as the first internet-based, general-interest documentary network and can be found on popular platforms such as Hulu, YouTube, Amazon, and on XiveTV's just-released iOS and Android apps.

XiveTV promises "smart entertainment for the passionate and curious," delivering over two thousand hours of award-winning factual programs in history, science, space, wildlife, adventure, and more. The entire collection is easily searchable by topic and shareable via social media, and features popular programs such as "Cosmic Journeys," "Tornado Chasers," "Psychic Investigators," "Austin Stevens Adventures," and many more.

With an audience made up primarily of viewers between 25-34, XiveTV is part of the growing "new media" revolution, as viewers migrate from traditional television to over-the-top services, including mobile, searchable platforms that can better cater to their individual interests and their desre for TV anytime, anywhere.

"XiveTV is very interesting – maybe even a game-changer in our industry," notes Brent Montgomery, CEO of factual production giant Leftfield Entertainment. "Everyone wants TV to be searchable, everyone wants TV to be mobile. It's where TV is going."

Documentary filmmakers and distributors worldwide are increasingly seeking new ways to connect with viewers in the shifting media landscape. "The XiveTV announcement shows just how fast the world of TV is changing," says Patrick Roberts, SVP of International Sales in North America for distributor DRG. "We are delighted to see our content on the first dedicated general documentary service in the SVOD/AVOD space."

Bringing Alliant Content's popular series such as "Pure History" and "SpaceRip" under the new XiveTV brand, the newly launched network already counts nearly 500,000 subscribers, and streams over 20 million minutes of programming each week. While other online documentary services typically offer limited catalogs and short programs, XiveTV is attracting a growing audience with a large collection of long-form content. This strategy is paying off in remarkably high levels of engagement, with the average viewer watching over 67% of each XiveTV program. This figure can rise to over 90% on some of XiveTV's most popular series.

"We're dedicated to serving people who crave expertly produced, thought-provoking content," notes XiveTV Co-founder Thomas Lucas. Fellow Co-founder, Greg Diefenbach, hails new video technology as the key to XiveTV's success. "Technology empowers the viewer. People now expect immediate access to programs that match their passions and curiosity. That's what XiveTV is all about."

XiveTV features originally produced content, along with programming from more than 20 major media organizations across the globe, including ITV, Sky Vision, Digital Rights Group, Cineflix and many others.
