Hub One Selects Coriant to Expand its Metro Optical Network and Enhance End-User Services

Coriant, a global supplier of SDN-enabled end-to-end transport solutions, announced today that Hub One, a leading player in mobility and telecoms services in France, has selected the Coriant™ 7100 Nano™ Packet Optical Transport Platform for a new WDM network interconnecting the airports of Paris. The 7100 Nano solution will provide Hub One a best-in-class transport infrastructure for resilient service delivery and future-proof scalability as the mobile traffic demands of travelers and local businesses continue to grow. The new WDM network will connect Charles de Gaulle, Le Bourget and Orly airports.

"The three airports located in the Paris metropolitan area are some of the busiest across Europe, serving thousands of travelers every day. Providing a secure and reliable communications network is crucial for our customers," stated Patrice Bélie, CEO of Hub One. "Global travelers and the local businesses providing services to the airports utilize a growing array of powerful mobile devices. As data consumption of travelers continues to increase and connectivity becomes increasingly important, the Coriant solution will provides us with proven technology to guarantee a continuous service to our end-user customers."

The 7100 Nano is an integrated packet optical transport and multiservice delivery solution for wireless, fixed line and business services networks. With a small form factor, low power consumption, and a robust suite of features, the 7100 Nano is the ideal solution for multiservice metro deployments and data interconnect applications. A key product in the Coriant Dynamic Optical Cloud™ Solution, the 7100 Nano will not only support the needs of Hub One's new metro network, but also provide the flexible foundation for future network expansion via multi-degree Reconfigurable Optical ADM (ROADM (News - Alert)) and dynamic photonic switching technologies.

"We are pleased to partner with Hub One as they expand their infrastructure network to meet the evolving needs of their customers," said Richard Fellner, Vice President of European Sales for Coriant. "Hub One's deep knowledge of both mobility and telecoms, coupled with Coriant's flexible and scalable packet optical transport platform, will result in a successful network expansion supporting the high-bandwidth connectivity needs of the businesses and travelers of Paris."

Supporting up to 88 channels, with interfaces ranging from 100 Mbps to 100 Gbps, the 7100 Nano offers scalability, service flexibility and cost effectiveness that enable true next-generation transport networking. It also features an integrated dynamic optical core and intelligent services interfaces that together deliver Add/Drop Multiplexer (ADM) capability, Layer 2 packet switching on a single blade, and OTN multiplexing and switching. Coupled with software-configurable ports supporting SONET/SDH, OTN, Ethernet and Storage Area Network (SAN) interfaces, the 7100 Nano solution supports the service flexibility required in today's rapidly expanding metro networks.
