SCRA-Managed National Armaments Consortium Announces New Leadership

The National Armaments Consortium (NAC) today announced new leadership. Charlie Zisette has been named Executive Director, and George Solhan as the Director of Customer Affairs. The Consortium, comprised of more than 280 industry and academic members, is one of the largest defense-related consortia in existence today. Their mission is to provide relevant and timely development and transition of critical armament technologies to the warfighter. The NAC is linked to the Department of Defense Ordnance Technology Consortium (DOTC), providing a unique forum for innovation through a collaborative environment.

As the Executive Director, Zisette is responsible for the overall management and business affairs of the NAC, serving as the principle point of contact for business with the consortium, its member organizations and all government departments and agencies. Zisette was a founding member of the Consortium in 2000 and has served on both Executive Committees the NAC and DOTC for more than eight years.

"I see the NAC-DOTC consortia as DoD's best practice for rapid and relevant technology transition to the warfighter," said Zisette.

Mr. Zisette has more than 30 years of industry experience in the research, development, test, evaluation and production of armament technologies and products.

As the Director of Customer Affairs, Solhan is responsible for managing relationships between the NAC, its Member Organizations, and various Government Departments and Agencies. This is a newly created position to ensure the growth of NAC through dedicated and focused engagement with current and potential customers. Recently retired from the Senior Executive Service after a 23 year career, for the last nine years, he was the Deputy Chief of Naval Research for Expeditionary Maneuver Warfare and Combating Terrorism Science and Technology at the Office of Naval Research. He also served as Department Head and the Director of Marine Corps Science and Technology, responsible for leading, managing, directing and integrating an extensive Science and Technology program. Solhan is a retired U.S. Marine Corps Officer with combat experience in the Republic of Vietnam and Infantry and Special Operations experience through the Regimental level.

"The velocity of technological change today demands that we innovate to enable Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines to win and survive in battle. This is why the NAC exists," said Solhan.

"It is a privilege to work with these experienced, knowledgeable leaders as we serve our membership and clients," said NAC Chair Diana-Lynn Herbst. "We look forward to the successes and continued progress that these gentlemen will contribute."
