Shasta Ventures Promotes Partner Sean Flynn to Managing Director

Shasta Ventures, an early-stage venture firm, today announced the promotion of Sean Flynn to Managing Director, recognizing his ongoing contributions and long-term commitment to the firm. He joins Rob Coneybeer, Tod Francis, Ravi Mohan, and Jason Pressman on Shasta's team of managing directors. This bolsters the leadership team of the firm, which raised its $300 million Shasta IV fund in 2014.

"Sean has a strong investment record and has produced great results for Shasta. He is also a tireless worker and provides invaluable support to our portfolio companies."

Flynn joined Shasta in 2008 and became a partner in 2012. He primarily focuses his early-stage investments on mobile-enabled consumer Internet and enterprise software startups. He currently serves on the board of directors for Bloc, Swipely, TigerText, Timehop and ZEFR, and also led the firm's investments in Dollar Shave Club and Simple (acquired by BBVA).

"When Sean invested in Swipely, our business had yet to take shape. With his guidance, we grew annual sales 400 last year, attracted a significant follow-on financing, and won thousands of new customers," said Angus Davis, CEO of Swipely. Before joining Shasta Ventures, Sean came from Yahoo! where he served as a senior director of business development and business operations, growing communication and community products such as Yahoo! Mail, Messenger, Groups, and Flickr. Before Yahoo!, Sean worked as an investment banker at Morgan Stanley where he advised technology, telecom, and media companies in New York and Singapore. He holds a B.A. in economics from Brown University.
