UNH-IOL adds 12 Devices to Integrators List at Third NVM Express Interoperability Plugfest

The University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL (News - Alert)), an independent provider of broad-based testing and standards conformance services for the networking industry, today announced that the third NVM Express Interoperability Plugfest, in cooperation with the NVM Express Organization, led to the successful listing of twelve products to the UNH-IOL's NVMe Integrators List 1.1b. Products from HGST, Intel (News - Alert), Marvell, Samsung, and OCZ are now included on the Integrators List which serves as the industry's resource on validated products that are interoperable and in conformance with the NVMe 1.1b specification, as well as industry-accepted test practices.

In partnership with the NVM Express Organization, the UNH-IOL formed the UNH-IOL NVMe Testing Consortium in 2012 and held the industry's first Plugfest in May 2013, for testing to the NVMe 1.0 specification. Today, product interoperability, conformance, and features like Subsystem Reset, boot and Hotplug Tests are now conducted to determine product eligibility for the Integrators List. Products must pass 4 out of 5 interoperability tests to be eligible for the list. With forty engineers, representing sixteen companies, the third Plugfest, conducted November 10-13, 2014, yielded twelve products that met the requirements of the NVMe Integrators List 1.1b.

"Plugfests play a valuable role in providing system integrators and users with confidence in new industry standards and products," said Ulrich Hansen, vice president of SS product marketing, HGST. "This confidence helps to drive adoption so that organizations can quickly benefit from the latest technological advancements. HGST is committed to supporting these events to help elevate the maturity and deployments throughout the NVMe ecosystem."

"The participating companies in our third Plugfest were a good mix of device and subsystem vendors, silicon vendors, IP companies and enterprise storage companies," said David Woolf, UNH-IOL NVMe testing consortium lead. "Our goal was to help improve NVMe technology and prove that NVMe continues to be a robust and interoperable solution, which I believe we accomplished."

Access to the UNH-IOL's vendor-neutral and independent test services and attendance at NVMe Plugfests require membership in the UNH-IOL NVMe Testing Consortium. Members are able to list qualifying products on the NVMe Integrators List upon completion of laboratory testing. They can also place products in the UNH-IOL NVMe interoperability test bed for continuous testing, thereby making a contribution to the further development of NVMe technology.

A fourth Plugfest is scheduled for the week of June 8th, 2015.
