ADT Showcases Security at the Core of Smart Home Technology at CES 2015

Beginning today at the 2015 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES (News - Alert)), leading electronic security and home automation provider ADT (NYSE:ADT) will showcase its commitment to helping consumers ensure their smart homes are also safe homes through its ADT Pulse® interactive solutions and strategic partnerships that support its vision for the future of the connected home. The brand will exhibit in the Sands Expo and Convention Center (Tech West), booth #71029.

In today's hyper-digital, mobile world, people are looking for simple solutions that offer more advanced control, safety and security of their homes. However, with the "Internet of Things" offering more options than ever before, it's unfortunate that some people are mistaking the convenience of "looking in" for the true safety of professionally monitored security. In fact, a recent survey commissioned by ADT* shows that 82 percent of those surveyed are concerned about the safety of their loved ones, pets and belongings while being away from home, along with their desire to be notified as to potential break-ins.

"We at ADT have been unrelenting in our mission to provide products and services that help protect the things that matter most to our customers, which is why we are committed to providing greater peace of mind through both innovation and professionally monitored security," said Arthur Orduña, Senior Vice President and Chief Innovation Officer for ADT. "With more than one million ADT Pulse (News - Alert) interactive security customers, we believe that the smartest smart homes must also be safe. Simply put, our view is that safety and security is something that you should not compromise on."

Rather than merely sending emergency notifications, as is the case with many self-monitored, smart home solutions, ADT has the added ability to inform and dispatch the appropriate emergency services in response to alarm signals received for potential incidents such as burglary, fire, smoke and high levels of carbon monoxide.

The Company's recent survey found that nine out of ten survey participants' top priority is to be alerted of any breach in security in their home - but there's also a widespread desire for connected home automation technology. To address the nearly 60 percent of people surveyed who are looking to access and control their home remotely, ADT offers the ability to view secure, real-time video, arm the security system, receive alerts and control features such as connected lights, garage doors, thermostats, door locks and small appliances - all from a web-enabled phone, tablet or computer.

CES 2015 PRODUCTS HIGHLIGHTS AND FEATURES

The latest ADT innovations being showcased at CES 2015 include ADT Pulse Total Security wireless technology, the ADT Pulse Voice app, and demonstrations of ADT's integration into the IFTTT (If This Then That) platform.

  • ADT Pulse Total Scurity: ADT Pulse Total Security offers the latest technology and hardware from ADT. Through a wireless hub and sleek in-home control panel, it combines trusted security monitoring services with premier automation capabilities. It also includes cellular and power backups to help ensure users' homes are safe and secure through multiple layers of security. ADT Pulse Total Security customers can connect to their home via the ADT Pulse app or via their online portal to view real-time video, receive alerts, arm their security system and remotely control devices such as lights, door locks, garage doors, thermostats and appliances.
  • ADT Pulse IFTTT Integration: Since announcing their relationship in August 2014, IFTTT and ADT have been working together to create a channel that will connect a customer's ADT Pulse-enabled home with more than 100 existing IFTTT channel partners. At CES, ADT is demonstrating the collaboration's potential - from adjusting ADT thermostats to react to local weather conditions to arming ADT security systems based on users' GPS data - and showcasing the myriad of ways homeowners will be able to use the technology to put many aspects of their home on auto-pilot. It is anticipated that the ADT-IFTTT Channel will be publicly available to consumers in 2015.
  • ADT Pulse Voice: ADT Pulse Voice is a mobile app that enables users to arm and disarm their ADT Pulse security panel, control their home's lighting, adjust thermostats, lock and unlock doors, and check the overall status of their home - all verbally and virtually touch-less using an iOS or Android (News - Alert) smart phone. It leverages a multi-layered identification process to limit access to registered members by verifying three personal checkpoints: a secret phrase, state-of-the-art voice recognition, and confirmed identification of a mobile device. Voice control also lends access to visually impaired consumers, allowing less interaction on screen and providing the benefit of verbal commands and feedback.

ADDITIONAL SERVICES & PARTNERSHIPS

With a commitment to providing a safe home, ADT is also focused on broadening its overall benefits to encompass personal, online and digital security, while also tailoring its solutions to offer valuable services to health and business customers.

  • Personal Security Services: In early 2014, ADT launched its Canopy™ mobile app, which enables users to communicate with friends and family members in a designated virtual circle, while the integrated ADT Chaperone feature provides a direct line to trusted ADT monitoring centers anytime and anywhere. Furthermore, in May 2014, the company announced a $25M Series C investment in Life360, forging a mutually beneficial bond for the two companies to advance personal security solutions and family networking technology available to the more than 33 million families who use Life360.
  • Online / Digital Security Services: ADT and McAfee (News - Alert) (Intel Security) first announced their strategic partnership in early 2014 and today they continue the relationship by offering ADT customers online and digital security services through McAfee LiveSafe™. ADT's recent study found that while more than half of people are concerned about a home break-in, nearly two-thirds are similarly concerned about their security online. The two companies are continuing to work together to bridge the worlds of digital and physical security by exploring possibilities of connecting a user's home security system to state-of-the-art data security technology and authentication services.
  • Business Services: Building upon the foundation and success of its small business organization, ADT has expanded into the commercial security market to offer a broad portfolio of solutions that meet the evolving needs of both small and mid-sized businesses. The company has tailored its wide range of products and services to create custom bundles intended to address the security concerns of various organizations such as clinical offices, food and beverage establishments, mechanical settings, professional offices and more.
  • Health Services: ADT continues to collaborate with Ideal Life to support the ADT Home Health platform, which offers real-time health management solutions and monitoring services. The ability for customers, as well as caregivers and trusted medical providers, to monitor health and wellness considerably differentiates ADT from other home automation and security providers.

ADT executives and product experts will be on-hand in the ADT booth (#71029, Sands Expo, Tech West) to demonstrate the latest ADT technology and innovations.
