Group Video Chat Platform Paltalk Acquires Tinychat

Paltalk (News - Alert), the leading group video chat platform, announced today that it has acquired Tinychat, a popular chat platform launched in 2009 that offers text, audio and video capabilities for chatting. Along with Camfrog, which Paltalk acquired in 2010, there are now over 225 million registered users of a Paltalk service, consolidating its position as the leading video chat provider in the world.

As part of the acquisition, Tinychat Cofounder Michael Stern will remain at Paltalk as Vice President of Product Development, overseeing the continued development of Tinychat into mobile and desktop while Tinychat's other co-founders Martin Redmond and Daniel Saltman are pursuing other projects. Tinychat will continue to operate as a standalone platform (available at http://www.tinychat.com).

"We've long respected Tinychat as another great platform that brings users together from all over the world, whether to meet new people, discuss common interests, or just be entertained," said Eric Sackowitz, COO of Paltalk. "There is a shared vision about what the future of video communication platforms can be, and together Paltalk and Tinychat will deliver that experience to our community around the world."

"Paltalk has been known as an innovative leader in video chat for more than 15 years," said Tinychat co-founder Michael Stern. "We look forward to working with their team and drawing on their deep expertise and resources to exponentially grow the Tinychat audience."

Founded in 2009, Tinychat is a free and simple web-based chat platform that allows users to discover and meet people who share their interests as well as connect and chat with their friends.
