Basho Names New Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Engineering

Basho Technologies, the creator and developer of Riak, the industry leading distributed NoSQL database, today announced that Amy Kelleran Pelly has joined the company as chief financial officer and Heather McKelvey as vice president of engineering. Pelly and McKelvey join Basho's management team as accomplished leaders, each with more than 20 years of experience in the software industry. Pelly will lead financial strategy, and McKelvey will manage Basho's product and engineering roadmap. Basho will also open its new corporate headquarters in Bellevue.

Pelly has managed the financial and operational functions of a variety of enterprise software companies. Most recently she was the CFO and VP of business operations at Doxo where she was responsible for the company's financial plans, key performance metrics and operational objectives. Prior to that, Pelly was the CFO at Gist where she was a key member of the team, which sold Gist to Blackberry in 2011. Earlier, Pelly was the CFO of Tegic (subsidiary of AOL (News - Alert) acquired by Nuance), VP of finance and business operations of AOL's wireless division, CFO of Wildseed (acquired by AOL) and held multiple financial management roles, including interim-CFO, during her eight-year tenure at Onyx Software, which went public in 1999. Pelly began her career at Deloitte (News - Alert) & Touche in Seattle.

"Basho is rapidly growing as an industry leader and I look forward to collaborating with such a talented team. By providing financial and operational guidance, we will strategically secure an even wider global presence," said Pelly.

McKelvey has more than 20 years of experience leading and managing enterprise software teams and will report to Basho CTO, Dave McCrory. Most recently, she was the CTO and SVP of engineering at GoGrid, where she led architecture and development of cloud services, inclusive of compute, SDN, storage and orchestration services. Prior to that, McKelvey was VP of engineering and operations at Mashery (News - Alert), an API management SaaS running in the cloud. Before joining Mashery, McKelvey held senior positions at MarketLive, Netscape, Compaq and Ingres.

"Basho has created a highly available key-value store, object storage and integrated search solution that provides the scalability and performance modern compnies need to unlock the value of the data they are generating," said McKelvey. "I'm looking forward to leading this highly talented engineering team to continue expanding the platform's capabilities. By working closely with the executive, product and engineering teams, we will deliver new services and capabilities that will further expand the attractiveness of Riak to companies seeking to harness NoSQL technologies for their unstructured data needs."

New Headquarters

Basho will open new headquarters in Bellevue in early Q1 2015. Pelly joins Wray, McCrory and a number of research and development team members to manage the company from this new office. Seattle was selected because of its technology industry and deep talent pool. Basho will also maintain offices in the Washington, D.C. area, as well as London and Tokyo.

"I am pleased to welcome both Amy and Heather to our team, and look forward to their contributions. Amy's proven track record of successfully managing growing software companies' finances, business operations and administrative functions make her an exceptional choice for this position. Heather's extensive experience leading software development teams will help us plan for and align our product growth so that we can further accelerate deployment to enterprises worldwide," said Adam Wray, CEO of Basho. "The new corporate move will also allow us to continue hiring top talent, and have access to the key developer communities for talent and innovation."
