Pepperdine University Graziadio School of Business and Management to Host Former Argentinian Minister of Economy and Foreign Affairs

LOS ANGELES --(Business Wire)--

In a rare appearance at a U.S. campus, globally renowned economic expert Minister Domingo Cavallo of Argentina will speak on the Argentinian and Latin American economies to students at Pepperdine University's Graziadio School of Business and Management this week.

"We're honored that Dr. Cavallo has chosen to share his insights, experiences and observations with the students and alumni of the Graziadio Business School, and are proud to exclusively host such a world-class thought leader at Pepperdine University," said David M. Smith, interim dean, Pepperdine University Graziadio School of Business and Management. "Dr. Cavallo's visit reflects our commitment to immersing our MBA students in an innovative curriculum that incorporates local, national and global economic perspectives in a multi-disciplinary business educational setting."

The visit to The Graziadio Business School on Friday, November 14th, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. will mark the Minister's first visit to Pepperdine University. The informal dialogue and Q&A with the audience will be held at the West Los Angeles campus (Howard Hughes (News - Alert) Center, 6100 Center Drive, Room 333-334) and is open to the media.

As former two-time Argentinian Minister of Economy and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Cavallo will speak on lessons learned from Argentina's economic crisis, the current state of affairs of Latin American economy, and bsiness opportunities in Latin America. Dr. Cavallo presided over the Argentinian economic crisis of 2001, during which foreign investment and exports dried up, and inflation, debt and interest rates sharply increased. Dr. Cavallo also served as president of Argentina's Central Bank. Minister Cavallo currently serves as a member of the Group of 30 (G30), a consultative group on international economics and monetary affairs chaired by former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker, and counts Treasury Secretaries Larry Summers and Tim Geithner as members.

Dr. Cavallo earned his PhD in Economics at Harvard University and was a Senior Fellow in Global Affairs at Yale University.

Dr. Cavallo's visit is hosted through The Graziadio Business School's Presidents and Key Executives (PKE) MBA program, designed for top-level executives charged with strategic decision-making and driving bottom line results. The only program of its kind, PKE focuses not only on the operational and financial aspects of business, but on personal development as a leader. In March of 2014, the PKE MBA program hosted Skype (News - Alert) dialogues on the Greek and Argentinian economies with former Minister of State Theodoros Roussopoulos of Greece, and Dr. Cavallo.
