Wi-Manx granted upgraded operating concession [TeleGeography CommsUpdate]

(TeleGeography CommsUpdate Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Isle of Man-based Wi-Manx has announced that local telecoms regulator the Isle of Man Communications Commission has granted a licence amendment that will allow it become the third full telecoms operator on the island. In a press release announcing the development Wi-Manx said its updated concession will allow it to offer a full suite of internet, voice and networks services to the Isle of Man market.

Wi-Manx, which earlier this year was acquired by local company Elite Comms Group, already owns and operates a pan European MPLS network, a state of the art data centre and supports several thousand residential and business customers across the Isle of Man, UK and Europe. Now, with the new licence in tow it has said it expects its expanded portfolio of products in 2015 to include full voice services, SIP Trunking and a range of network services currently being developed for FTSE 100 Companies. Wi-Manx residential users will, meanwhile, benefit from 'a wider range of services and even lower call costs using the Island's most popular voice over IP solution'.

Commenting on the development, Wi-Manx managing director Joe Hughes noted: 'This is great news for us as a business and great for the Isle of Man. A core focus of our business is now on the introduction of new and never before seen business solutions which will be rolled out in the new year.' (c) 2014 PriMetrica, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
