The CMO Club Announces Beth Comstock as 2014 Inductee to the CMO Hall of Fame

(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwired) -- 11/11/14 -- The CMO Club (TheCMOClub.com) is proud to announce Beth Comstock, senior vice president and chief marketing officer of GE, as the 2014 inductee to the CMO Hall of Fame.

Induction into the CMO Hall of Fame is the world's premier CMO honor and is based on a marketing executive's demonstrated delivery in leadership, marketing innovation and leading the growth agenda for their companies over his/her career. The Hall of Fame inductees, voted in exclusively by CMOs in the club, have not only delivered "high impact" to his/her companies, but had a positive influence on the industry based on their leadership, innovation and active participation.

Beth Comstock said, "I'm thrilled by the nomination, which is a testament to the hard work, dedication and ingenuity of the entire GE team as we continue to push ourselves as innovative marketers. It is an honor to be inducted into the CMO Hall of Fame, and especially to be selected by the industry peers I respect and admire." Beth Comstock is passionate about change and innovation and leads GE's growth efforts via marketing, sales, licensing and communications and oversees GE Ventures. Her current priorities include partnering with and investing in startups, developing new markets in analytics, energy and affordable health through GE's industrial Internet, ecomagination and healthymagination initiatives, and making connections that spur a culture of inventiveness and grow brand value.

Previously she served as President of Integrated Media at NBC Universal where she oversaw ad sales, marketing and research, and led the company's digital media efforts, including early development of hulu.com, Peacock Equity and acquiring ivillage.com.

In 2003, she was named GE's first Chief Marketing Officer in more than 20 years. Previously, she held a succession of roles at GE, NBC, CBS and Turner Broadcasting.

Beth is a member of Nike's board of directors and trustee president of the Smithsonian's Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum. She serves on the board of Quirky, an online hub that makes invention accessible and is a startup partner with GE on smart consumer products. She graduated from the College of William and Mary with a degree in biology.

The CMO Club will host a CMO Awards dinner in NYC Tuesday, Nov. 18, to honor Ms. Comstock and formally induct her into the Hall of Fame. Additionally, 40 winners of the 2014 CMO Awards will be honored at the CMO Awards dinner and one CMO from each of 10 categories will be presented the "CMOs Choice" award voted on by their peers.
