Chinese maker Gionee has introduced a smartphone, the Marathon M3 that holds a huge battery rated for 5000mAh with 32 hours of 3G talktime, and up to 32.8 days in standby mode. Don't expect high performance though, the innards are just mediocre. The processor chip is MediaTek's quad core MT6582, speeding at 1.3 GHz, along with 1GB RAM which isn't bad. The Marathon M3 has a 5-inch IPS 720p display, and runs Android 4.4 KitKat with a mix of Gionee's Amigo 2.2 UI flavors. There is a presence of 8GB of storage along with MicroSD expansion up to 128GB. The optics include an 8MP main camera with LED, and a 2MP front camera. Other features include Dual Sim, 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and OTG support as well. Gionee fails to mention the actual weight of the device, but according to the spec sheet, the M3 weights 180g sans the huge power bank. For now, the device is sold in limited regions such as India and China, at a price of 778 AED. No word yet if Gionee will ship the units worldwide.
