Hungary : NMHH inks deal with VODAFONE HUNGARY to use frequencies [TendersInfo (India)]


(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) NMHH, telecommunications authority in Hungary, has inked contract with Vodafone Hungary to use frequencies, which the operator has won at the recent tender held by NMHH.

It is estimated that the frequency specification and radio licence will be issued in late 3-9 November week.

To acquire 31% of the frequencies on offer, Vodafone has paid a total of HUF 30.2 billion and its aim to achieve 81.64% nationwide coverage within three years.

Vodafone Hungary paid HUF 27.2 billion for lot C, with two blocks in the 800 MHz band and one unpaired block of 25 MHz in the 2.6 GHz range. Besides this, the operator purchased paired lot in the 2.6 GHz band for HUF 3 billion.



Vodafone stated that the new frequencies will be deployed soon as it's network is already upgraded and intend to reach over 98% 4G coverage.

On 29 September, Vodafone won the licences during the tender held by NMHH for the award of mobile spectrum in the 800, 900, 1,800 and 2,600 MHz frequency bands. The winners of the tender are existing market players Magyar Telekom, Telenor and Vodafone, and Digi Tavkozlesi as a newcomer.
