BRIEF: Ansys reports increases, appoints new board chairman [Pittsburgh Post-Gazette](Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (PA) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Nov. 05--Southpointe-based engineering simulation software company Ansys posted third-quarter net income of $65.5 million, or 70 cents per share, a 5 percent increase from $62.4 million, or 66 cents per share, last year during the same period. Revenues rose to $234 million, a 10 percent increase from $212.7 million last year. CEO James Cashman said the growth came partly due to "double-digit revenue growth" in North America and Asia-Pacific. The company also announced that on Oct. 27 board chair Peter Smith stepped down for a medical leave of absence. Board member Ronald Hovsepian will take on the role of interim non-executive chairman.
