KPN partners with IBM to expand cloud service [TeleGeography CommsUpdate]

(TeleGeography CommsUpdate Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Dutch telecoms giant KPN has partnered with IBM to extend its cloud services in the Netherlands, according to a press release from the New York-based IT giant. Currently delivering value added cloud services to over one million businesses across the Netherlands, KPN plans to capture more of the Dutch business market by investing in the development of its cloud-based storage and back-up solutions, using IBM company SoftLayer to supply the infrastructure. IBM declares that as well as offering in-country data residency requirements it will also provide a choice of three infrastructure-as-a-service delivery models – bare metal servers, single-tenant virtual machines and multi-tenant virtual machines. KPN CEO Eelco Blok said: 'Our clients are turning to cloud to improve the speed and agility of their business, which are critical factors for success…IBM…has a broad set of services that allow us to build our current and future cloud portfolio on it.'
