DEWA, Microsoft launch e-service app [ITP.net (United Arab Emirates)](ITP.net (United Arab Emirates) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Microsoft Gulf today announced the launch of an e-government service for Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) to support the utility's compliance with Dubai's ongoing Smart City initiative. DEWA 2.0 is an upgraded application that is now compatible with Microsoft's Windows 8.1 operating system. Additional features "help provide DEWA's customers with convenient and instant access to a wide range of services", according to a joint statement from DEWA and Microsoft. "In line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai,... we constantly improve our services to simplify and accelerate processes, achieve customers' satisfaction and exceed their expectations," said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA. "The new improved app, in collaboration with Microsoft, supports our efforts in smart government, information technology and smart services, which [enables customers] to reach DEWA's services and complete their transactions, anytime, anywhere."
