DOCOMO picks Oracle router for LTE roaming [TeleGeography CommsUpdate]

(TeleGeography CommsUpdate Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Japanese mobile operator NTT DOCOMO has successfully deployed Oracle's diameter signalling router in its 4G network to speed up the planned launch of Long Term Evolution (LTE) roaming services. The cellco says it has implemented the Oracle Communications Diameter Signalling Router as a 'virtualised solution' to provide centralised routing and improved traffic management and load-balancing tasks, which will benefit its roughly 63 million mobile users. Commenting on the deployment, Hiroshi Nakamura, senior vice president, managing director, Core Network Development Department, NTT DOCOMO, said: 'The rapid growth of LTE in Japan and roaming markets demands that we support LTE roaming to provide our customers with a consistently high-quality mobile experience no matter where they are'.
