(DNA : Daily News & Analysis (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) "Ahmedabad: Rumours have been ripe that South Korean smartphone manufacturer, Samsung has slashed prices of various Galaxy series smartphones in India. The models whose prices have been slashed include the Galaxy Ace NXT, Galaxy Star Advance, Galaxy Grand Neo, Galaxy S3 Neo, and Galaxy Note 3 Neo.

The Samsung Galaxy Ace NXT along with the Samsung Galaxy Star Advance had been launched around July this year at Rs7,400. However, these phones are now officially available at Rs 6,620 and Rs6,790 respectively on the company's online Indian e-store.

Similarly, the mid-range smartphones of the same series, viz. Galaxy Grand Neo, which was initially priced at Rs18,450 at the time of its launch is now available at Rs13,668. The price of this smartphone has also been reduced once in April this year to Rs17,100.

Speaking to dna, Raj Panjri, owner of MMB Luxury Mobiles store on Judges Bungalow road said, "So far we haven't received any news of such price decline. Samsung's high-end smartphones of the S series and the Note series are usually priced around Rs50,000 at the time of launch. These prices tend to be reduced after 3-4 months of launch, considerably, in order to withhold the market." Coming to the S series smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy S3 Neo is now being sold on the company's e-store at Rs. 20,910, down from its launch price of Rs. 26,200.

A few weeks ago, Samsung had brought down the prices of its flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S5 that received a major popular attention, as it was rated by many critics to be as good as or even better than the Apple's iPhone 5. The Samsung Galaxy S5 is now officially available at Rs. 37,500 on the company's online India store, compared to the previous price tag of Rs. 43,250 - a price cut of Rs. 5,750.

The officials from the Samsung store have denied any price cut of the newly launched smartphones of the Galaxy series. However, Viral Jepavat, the owner of Apple n' Berry, a retailer based in Paldi has confirmed the prices of several handsets of the South Korean smartphone manufacturer that have been slashed."Samsung's smartphones see market-level competition from brands like Micromax and Spice which offer high-featured smartphones at low cost, along with the international brands like Apple and Xiaomi. As the company launches newer models of its smartphones, it tends to lower the prices of its low-end smartphones." Jepavat denied receiving any intimation from the company regarding the slashing of prices of the latest entrants in the Galaxy series. However, he confirmed with dna regarding the average price range at which these phones are available and admitted that the prices tend to lower over a period of time. Lastly, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo, which was priced at Rs29,570 is now available at Rs. 24,378. This is the second price cut for the smartphone.
